The book is divided into two series, German Romantic literature and German expressionist literature, which are the result of nearly half a century of research by two experts in German literature. Among them, the evaluation of German classicism and German romanticism, the systematic study of Schiller and Goethe, and the evaluation and debate of German expressionist thought are all issues of theoretical pioneering significance, which have promoted the in-depth study of German literature. German playwright Brecht is a representative of "epic drama", as the proposer of the theory of "defamiliarization", Brecht has become a hot spot in the study of epic drama in Chinese academia because of his great influence in theater works and drama theory, as well as the inextricable relationship with Chinese culture.
