本书以大量的20世纪中国文学作品为蓝本，以文本细读的方式对这些作品进行分析与考察，探究各个时期作家们对理想人格的认识及表现。基于理想人格流变的纵向梳理，尝试系统性地阐述各时期理想人格的基本特征、形成背景、意义及其实现，揭示和阐发20世纪知识分子对“人”的深刻理解。本书按时序将20世纪理想人格分为五个历时阶段，选取最有代表性的理想人格形象进行解析，同时对同一时期因人物身份等因素的影响而造成的理想人格理解的差异进行深入解析，全面、系统性地阐发20世纪各阶层对理想人格的理解及其思想意义，并阐释出其对当下塑造社会主义核心价值观、建设和谐社会的重要意义。

Based on a large number of 20th-century Chinese literary works, this book analyzes and examines these works through close reading of texts, and explores the understanding and expression of ideal personality by writers in various periods. Based on the longitudinal combing of the flow of ideal personality, this paper attempts to systematically expound the basic characteristics, formation background, significance and realization of ideal personality in each period, and reveal and elaborate the profound understanding of "man" by intellectuals in the 20th century. This book divides the ideal personality of the 20th century into five epochal stages in chronological order, selects the most representative ideal personality image for analysis, and at the same time deeply analyzes the differences in the understanding of ideal personality caused by the influence of character identity and other factors in the same period, comprehensively and systematically expounds the understanding of ideal personality and its ideological significance of all strata in the 20th century, and explains its significance to shaping the core values of socialism and building a harmonious society.（AI翻译）
