This book is a companion to Chen Jiagang's The Construction and Operation of Democratic System in Modern China: A Study of the First National People's Congress (1954-1959) (2010), which is a continuation of the theme of the previous book, starting from the theory of institutional space, focusing on the evolution of the developmental space of the modern Chinese People's Congress (people's congress system). By tracing the evolution of institutional space, we can help us understand the realization of institutional space in different periods of modern Chinese people's congress (people's congress system), and further explore the structural reasons behind it.
