从1927年开始，中国左翼文艺界有了明确的为无产阶级革命文学发难的强烈诉求。在抗争外来压迫、开展内部论争和推进文艺创作的过程中，左翼文学得以不断演进和嬗变。左翼文学与其他文学形态、文学思潮、文学现象、文学批评一起构建了一个极为复杂的文学生态圈，进而使得1927-1937年成为中国现代文学史上最为重要的一个文学时期。作为20世纪30年代现代中国社会、文化、历史、思想转型期中一种“激进”的文学形态，左翼文学的历史光影和当下意义依然存在。

Beginning in 1927, China's left-wing literary and artistic circles had a clear and strong demand for proletarian revolutionary literature. In the process of resisting foreign oppression, carrying out internal debates and promoting literary and artistic creation, left-wing literature has been constantly evolving and transforming. Left-wing literature, together with other literary forms, literary trends, literary phenomena and literary criticism, has built an extremely complex literary ecosystem, which in turn made 1927-1937 the most important literary period in the history of modern Chinese literature.
