“先锋”与“民间”，是20世纪中国文学话语中重要的两极：前者追求叛逆、前卫、飞扬、超越，后者则呈现出自然、鲜活、原始、本真；前者求新思变，后者则固本溯源。本书围绕“先锋”和“民间”话语展开，从话语理论的探讨和文学批评实践出发，结合20世纪中国文学研究、湖北地域文学批评等前沿问题，从点到线、由线而面，将经典作家个案解读、现代诗歌转型研究、特殊文学思潮现象分析、整体社会历史文化观照等统摄起来进行考察，为我们重返20世纪文学现场提供了一定的学理参照和方法借鉴。
