早在20世纪五六十年代，民族符号学理论框架就已经在西方高等院校的教学与科研上逐渐成型。而中国学界对这一学科比较陌生，存在“日用二不知”的情况，不自觉地使用民族符号学的方法等。民族符号学包含着两个彼此关联的部分：一是民族学的研究者在研究民族问题或现象时有意无意地使用符号学理论对其进行探究；二是将符号学作为一种民族现象研究的总体方法论，视民族现象为“文化系统-语言模拟系统”的一部分，可以视为文化符号学的一个分支。本论文集所选的论文涉及两个部分。希望本论文集的出版能使民族符号学在中国引起重视并蓬勃发展。

As early as the fifties and sixties of the 20th century, the theoretical framework of national semiotics has gradually taken shape in the teaching and scientific research of Western colleges and universities. However, the Chinese academic community is relatively unfamiliar with this discipline, and there is a situation of "daily use and two unknowns", and unconsciously use the methods of national semiotics. Ethnosemiotics contains two interrelated parts: first, ethnological researchers consciously or unintentionally use semiotic theories to explore national problems or phenomena; The second is to regard semiotics as an overall methodology for the study of national phenomena, and regard national phenomena as part of the "cultural system-language simulation system", which can be regarded as a branch of cultural semiotics.
