本书以马克思唯物史观为指导，运用理论与实践相结合的研究方法，系统研究文化生产力的基本理论，揭示文化生产力与未来文明发展的关系。提出人类文明将从“物质时代”转向“精神时代”的观点，认为由于“文化生产力”自身的特点和价值，使其成为实现人类文明这次转换的一种直接现实力量。当今时代，人类文明依然处在“物质时代”。“物质时代”为人类文明的发展奠定了基础，但也带来了诸多的困惑与问题。“物质时代”的弊端，迫切呼唤人类文明的转换。而人类文明的这次转化，是由以物质需求为主的时代向以精神需求为主的时代——“精神时代”的转换。因而，生产满足人的精神文化需求的精神文化产品的力量——文化生产力，必然成为这次文明转化的一种直接现实力量。实现人类文明的这次转换，需要物质条件、主体条件和制度条件的保障。社会主义制度为实现人类文明的转化开辟了广阔道路。

Guided by Marx's materialist view of history, this book uses the research method of combining theory and practice to systematically study the basic theory of cultural productive forces and reveal the relationship between cultural productive forces and the development of future civilization. It puts forward the view that human civilization will shift from the "material age" to the "spiritual age", and believes that due to the characteristics and value of "cultural productive forces" itself, it is a direct practical force to realize this transformation of human civilization. In today's era, human civilization is still in the "material age". The "material age" laid the foundation for the development of human civilization, but it also brought many confusions and problems. The drawbacks of the "material age" urgently call for the transformation of human civilization. This transformation of human civilization is a transformation from an era dominated by material needs to an era dominated by spiritual needs - the "spiritual era". Therefore, the power to produce spiritual and cultural products that meet people's spiritual and cultural needs, the cultural productive forces, will inevitably become a direct practical force for this transformation of civilization.
