“Natural selection，survival of the fittest”，the competition is an inherent property and prodigiously dynamic of market economy. Human-beings have unremitting explorated on competitiveness theory since two hundred years.“Wealth of Nations”，composed by Adam Smith，laying the foundation of economics，has discussed the sources of competitveness. We can also see that the competitiveness theory has been discussed in multi-field，eg.international trade，regional economics，economic geography，management and so on. Though all of them analyze the problems from different views，they all reflect the mark of the social and economic evolution and exposed the continuous study among competitiveness.
This book focuses on the historical evolution routes of the competitiveness thoughts and its application problems in contemporary China. Report consists of three parts，with a total of eight chapters. The basic framework is as follows：The first part，which is also the first part，an overview of the study，focuses on the main content and key content of competitiveness. The second part，namely the theoretical part，mainly from chapter 2 to chapter 4，it systematically analyzed the competitiveness evolutionary routes from the perspective of western economics，Marxist theory and management theory. The third part，which is the method section，from chapter 5 to chapter 8，it focuses on the theoretical model building competitive situation assessment and present a variety of competitiveness evaluation methods，including evaluation of national competitiveness，regional competitiveness，industrial competitiveness and enterprise competitiveness.
