Liu Zhiming, graduated from the School of Journalism of Renmin University of China in July 1986, has served as a teaching assistant and lecturer at the School of Journalism. From October 1989 to October 1991, he studied and worked as a researcher at Hitotsubashi University in Japan; from April 1995 to March 1997, he served as an Associate Professor at Kobe University in Japan; in August 1998, he worked at the Institute of Journalism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is currently the Director of the Media Investigation Center of the Institute of Journalism and Communication, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
